Treatment of Plantar Warts

Treatment of Plantar Warts

Plantar warts are lesions caused by the human papilloma virus (HPV), which affect the skin of the feet and can cause discomfort when walking.

Plantar warts appear when the HPV virus (human papilloma virus) penetrates the skin through small cracks or cuts, usually in humid environments with frequent contact, such as swimming pools, changing rooms and gyms. The immune system can take some time to fight off the infection, which can prolong the wart's permanence.

At Centro Podológico de Lisboa, we offer specialized treatment for plantar warts, focused on the safe and effective removal of these lesions, minimizing pain and preventing recurrences.

Diagnosis is made through visual assessment and, when necessary, complemented with tests to confirm the nature of the lesion. We use modern and safe techniques, including cryotherapy, the application of specific medications and other therapies appropriate to each case.

This care is particularly important for people with reduced immunity or conditions that affect the skin of the feet. Prevention also involves hygiene care, avoiding walking barefoot in public places and taking care of small skin lesions.

If you have warts on your feet that cause pain or discomfort, make an appointment with us. We're in the Laranjeiras area of Lisbon, ready to take care of your foot health with professionalism and attention.
